Every day can vary in its propensity for a successful outcome. Some days are better for love, and some are better for money, but of course, your own chart's transits are the most important. However, when you have great transits and also pick a great day to start something new, the magic happens!

July has some good alignments but also some unpleasant ones. No day is ever perfect.

The news headlines reflect the dance of the planets

As June ends and July begins there is a Grand trine of Venus, Pallas, and Saturn plus a Grand trine of Mars, Ceres, and Juno.

Thankfully these planets mitigate and relieve some of the pressure from the T-square that involves Saturn and several other planets.

The last week of June was filled with gossip about the Presidential debate of June 27. The media might focus on Washington, D.C. but more was going on in other parts of the country to impact political discourse.

Consider the nasty T-square of late June and early July.

Here is a snip of the T-square on a chart wheel:

Saturn turned retrograde on June 30 after it completed the opposition to Xanthus on June 28. If you recall previous discussions of Xanthus, it was described as symbolic of tragic death. With Saturn part of the alignment, it is no wonder that criminal tragedies have been in the news.

The highly publicized arrest of two Venezuelan men for the rape and murder of a 12 year old girl named Jocelyn Nungaray in Houston brought up questions of whether their crimes would make them eligible for the death penalty. Also, in late June an El Salvadorian man was arrested, based on DNA evidence, who was allegedly responsible for the August 2023 rape and murder of Rachel Morin, a mother of five in Harford County, Maryland .

Saturn had already completed the square to Dionysus, the asteroid Magi Astrology associates with politics, just after WikiLeaks founder Julian Asange was released from a British prison after striking a plea deal with U.S. justice department.

But Saturn was also opposing Juno, and when Saturn changed direction on June 30 the power of a retrograde Saturn applying to an opposition to Juno is exacerbated. Saturn opposing Juno is an aspect of trickery and fraud and the T-square with Odin becomes exact the first week of July. We will see what this T-square involving Saturn, the planet of past mistakes, brings in the coming days.

Now, this isn't as dire as it seems because there is a Grand trine of Venus, Pallas, and Saturn plus a Grand trine of Mars, Ceres, and Juno. In the snip below you can see how Venus relieves the unpleasantness with its trine to Saturn while simultaneously Mars aids Juno.

THOUGHTS & THINGS

In June the Full Moon and solstice occurred as the Moon arrived at its extreme point of southern declination. Some people described that as the Moon at a standstill. Planets and Moons do not standstill. If you have ever used a yoyo, consider how it reaches the end of the string and gathers energy to come back up to your hand. For a split second it appears to stop but that is merely an illusion.

We read articles every day that might seem to some cynics to contain pure propaganda. Maybe some do. Yet education begins within the home and in elementary school. A strong foundation of sensible rules, ideals, and creeds protect children (AND adults), preparing them to face a world filled with conflicting opinions and misleading jargon.

Some of the earliest impressions children experience involve some scary premises and dire ideas.  ”If I die before I wake?” “Down will come baby cradle and all”?

Children of a certain generation in some parts of the country may have learned the nighttime prayer or heard the soothing lullaby below. Perhaps the words and their meaning did not cause an impact until later in life. At the time they seemed comforting and reassuring. Going to sleep and being helpless can seem scary, but usually kids wake up and find that nothing awful happened while they slept.

"Now I lay me down to sleep,

I pray the Lord my Soul to keep,

If I should die before I 'wake,

I pray the Lord my Soul to take."

Then there's this:

"Rock a bye baby, on the treetop,

When the wind blows the cradle will rock.

When the bough breaks the cradle will fall,

And down will come baby, cradle and all."

Looking for the origins and lyrics to the mournful song "In the Pines" (also known as "Where did you Sleep Last Night?") which might have fit into the category of childhood imprinting I learned that this folk song with roots in Appalachia did not fit as a children's ballad.

However, I stumbled upon a powerful and moving cover of this song by Nirvana’s lead singer and primary songwriter Kurt Cobain. Kurt Cobain's chart is fascinating. His alternative musical compositions and unique style influenced mainstream rock music for decades. Imagine what he could have accomplished with all the talent shown by these trines had he not felt isolated, unloved,and been attracted to self-destructive behavior. He tragically committed suicide at age 27. What a waste.
