MARCH 2017
The Spring Equinox and Associated Holidays - Planetary Weather of March - Earthquakes, Tsunamis and Heartbreaks
Day and Night - Dark and Light

We never value what we have until we experience a contrast.
In the winter we experience cold and darkness, in the summer we experience heat and light.
Like Goldilocks we may search for something that is not too hot and not too cold, but “just right.”
Left and Right political viewpoints might clash, but one side only exists thanks to a contrasting and opposite opinion. Political extremism is as uncomfortable and dangerous as a frostbiting cold blizzard or gaspingly hot temperatures.
The first day of spring is the halfway point between winter’s icy cold dark days and summer’s brightness and warmth.
Yin and Yang embrace one another in equal measure on the first day of spring.
March brings the equinox, when the length of daylight and night are the same. In the Northern Hemisphere this marks the time when the days begin to get longer, while in the Southern Hemisphere the days grow shorter.
Short days in winter mean cold weather when many plants die off or trees shut down to conserve their strength. Growth occurs when there is enough light to sustain life.
Early man needed to know when it was safe to plant crops so the first day of spring heralded by the equinox was an important date to know.
It might be more than a coincidence that St. Patrick’s Day and the equinox are but a few short days apart.
St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated on March 17th and the equinox falls on March 20.
St. Patrick’s Day is known for the “wearing of the green.” Oddly enough, the color green can be symbolic of Ireland as well as growth and the growing season.
March 1 – The Sun is parallel both Jupiter and Neptune. Jupiter is representative of success and Neptune is symbolic of peace and tranquility so this is a pretty good day in some ways. Jupiter and Neptune are separating from the parallel but return and realign in the same parallel in August.
March 5, 6, 7 – There is a very good alignment in heliocentric which is helpful for new starts and beginnings. It is especially helpful for business matters or starting something that requires stamina and dedicated persistence.
March 8-14 – Difficult planetary conditions make this a poor time to launch anything new or make major decisions.
March 14 – The Sun is conjunct Chiron. This is usually a good time to begin anything that needs public acclaim or a trustworthy commitment. HOWEVER, Saturn and Chiron are in an applying square to one another so whatever is begun while the Sun is conjunct Chiron will have the Saturn square to Chiron accentuated. In Magi Astrology the Saturn Chiron square is a symbol of heartbreak and a hailstorm of problems. The Saturn Chiron square becomes exact at the end of April 2017.
March 17 - This St. Patrick’s Day the Sun is exactly square Saturn, so that is not a good time to begin something new. Nor are the three days BEFORE the 17th, and to a lesser extent, the three days AFTER the 17th. When you begin something new—whether you sign a contract, buy a new car, or go on a first day – you LOCK IN the transits of the day as a new chart for what you began.
March 24- The Sun is parallel Chiron which is helpful for romance and publicity.
EARTHQUAKES, TSUNAMIS and HEARTBREAKS
The December 26, 2004 earthquake and tsunami created heartbreak and a hailstorm of problems for many people living in Indonesia.

The 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami: The Story of the Deadliest Natural Disaster of the 21st Century
The magnitude 9.1 earthquake occurred on the day of a Full Moon while Saturn was applying to an opposition to Chiron which would be exact in less than 3 days. Saturn and the Earth/Moon were within .02 degrees of exact in the heliocentric latitudes. See the chart below.
The personal account of one family who survived the devastating tsunami that wiped out their vacation in Thailand is depicted in the movie The Impossible
Starring Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor in an award winning film this movie is a perfect example of a “hailstorm transit.”
