Rags To Riches Story

Let’s review the chart of a very special individual who might be very familiar to anyone who knows and loves New Orleans.

Louisiana’s Black Heritage

Thomy LaFon was a “free man of color” and an example of the exotic racial mixture called Creole, who was born into poverty but built a successful business and became one of the wealthiest men in New Orleans.  Not only was he a business whiz kid and self-made business tycoon, but he became known in later life for his philanthropy, founding numerous charitable organizations and making sizeable donations to sustain hospitals, schools and shelters for members of all races.

He was born on December 28, 1810 in the golden aftermath of the Louisiana Purchase and during the heyday of the cosmopolitan melting-pot known as New Orleans.

The British are Coming…

(… the British came and won).

British Rider William Fox-Pitt Wins Rolex 2012 in Kentucky

William Fox-Pitt, a descendant of British PM William Pitt the younger, galloped his way to success this past weekend on Parklane Hawk as he won the 2012 Rolex 4 star (CCI4*) 3 day event held in Lexington, Kentucky. Three times World Number One and nine times British Number One make William Fox-Pitt one of the most successful British Three Day Event Riders of all time and a contender for the Grand Slam prize of $350,000.

His horse, Parklane Hawk (fondly known around the barn as Parker), is a 12-year-old bay off-the-track Thoroughbred from New Zealand on which Fox-Pitt also won the Land Rover Burghley CCI4* in England last fall.

Go Phillies!

Baseball season is here and, as always, this household roots for the Philadelphia Phillies. On our sister site, StarBaby paid homage to the team mascot and mentioned that the 300 pound team representative entered the baseball scene on April 25, 1978.

I simply had to look at the chart.

No wonder the Phillies Phanatic is such a popular fellow and a key member of the Mascot Hall of Fame. He was “born” with a planetary eclipse of the Sun and Chiron!

The asteroid Chiron has to do with spontaneity, impulsiveness, popularity and loyalty and what better planetary body to represent the heart and soul of a team mascot?

Not only does his chart have the Sun and Chiron conjunct, but the two are parallel in declination, so he is super popular with the public and charms everyone he meets!

That Sun/Chiron conjunction is square to Mars making him a super energetic fellow as well and a perfect fit for a baseball team since athletic sports are ruled by Mars.

Actually, the Sun/Chiron conjunction is at the center of a T-Square that involves not only Mars, but also Juno, the asteroid of fantasy. With Juno in the mix it’s no wonder no one knows exactly what the Phillie Phanatic really is—it is said he came from the Galapagos Islands but has anyone ever seen a giant green bird or two-legged animal like this one in real life?

He really gets along with humans and is quite the social animal, but that might be due to Venus and Mars both parallel in the declinations and both contraparallel Neptune accentuating his whimsical sense of fun.

This mascot has an irrepressible penchant for mischief and likes to climb in the stands with fans, takes daring rides across the ball field in his four-wheeler, dances on the dugout, and has tackled other mascots. That natal Sun square Mars brashness, however, has gotten him into trouble. Occasionally someone or something gets damaged by this 6 foot phenomenon. The Dodgers’ Tommy Lasorda lost his temper when mocked by the big green creature during a game in 1988 and assaulted the Phillie Phanatic during a nationally televised game. In May 2002 Bob Jarvis, professor of sports law at Nova Southeastern University, said that the Phanatic holds the “dubious record as the most-sued mascot in the majors.”

Apparently the Phanatic gets a bit too exuberant when mixing with the crowds and other teams. Gee, what else would you expect from a character born with a T-Square involving the Sun, Chiron and Mars and Juno?

Super Tuesday

Super Tuesday

With Super Tuesday looming on the horizon it is time to take a look at why Mitt Romney is starting to feel the love from voters once again.

Elections are basically a popularity contest, no matter how many idealists wish otherwise, and the outcome depends upon the way people perceive the candidates.

For a few weeks there was a tight race and it looked as though Rick Santorum was pulling into the lead, once he was put in the spotlight and had a chance to show off his immense personal charm (natal chart has Jupiter trine Chiron).

However, by looking at the transits to Mitt Romney’s birth chart it is easy to see that Mitt Romney’s ability to charm the public is currently on the rise.

As of March 5, 2012, transiting Chiron (that asteroid that boosts popularity) is parallel Mitt Romney’s Sun, both transiting Venus and transiting Jupiter are contraparallel Mitt Romney’s natal Chiron, and transiting Chiron is applying to a conjunction with Mitt Romney’s natal Mars (which is trine his natal Chiron, so we have an accentuated trine in progress). With transiting Pluto also within orb of a parallel to his natal Jupiter to add opportunity and power, it looks like Mitt Romney will be the popular choice on Super Tuesday.

Rick Santorum, on the other hand, has several Saturn transits dampening his chances. Transiting Saturn is parallel both his natal Jupiter and Chiron (the two planets in trine in his natal chart that make him such a charm machine) so of course this transit of the planetary bad guy, Saturn, puts a chill on his chances. Rick Santorum’s likeability and popularity with the general public is undermined by this Saturn transit. Yes, he still has a major Cinderella transit within orb (t. Chiron trine his natal Neptune) that helps him be seen as the political sweetheart of many anxious Republicans, but it is a separating aspect. Transiting Uranus is also approaching his natal Venus giving him extra media exposure. But neither of these aspects are close enough to offset those nasty Saturn transits that hit him right below the belt where his public image lives.
