Cross Country Course at Greenwich Park

Horses and riders will gallop and leap around Greenwich Park during the Olympic Eventing Cross Country on Monday.

The Chronicle of the Horse has a photo gallery of the course here.

Fences of note include a planet at fence #6, a moon at fence #7, sundials at fences #14a & b, and the observatory at fence #26.

Best of luck to all as they compete at the “home” of the prime meridian.

Zenyatta has a Foal!

2010′s Horse of the Year and winner of 19 consecutive races in a 20-race career is the proud mother of a male foal born on March 8, 2012 at 10:10 pm in Kentucky.

We rarely get birth times for horses, especially race horses since their official birthday for racing purposes is always January 1.

This young colt was born just after the peak of a Full Moon and even without the birth time it can be seen that his chart has a lucky Grand Trine of Mars, Jupiter and Pluto in his chart. That he will be a charmer and the subject of much adoration is from the public is evident with the Sun parallel Chiron in his chart.

The popular Zenyatta was born April 1, 2004 and earned over seven million dollars and set many records during her racing career. She made racing history by beating an all-male field in the Breeders’ Cup Classic in 2009, becoming the first mare ever to win that race and the first horse EVER to win two different Breeders’ Cup races. She competed long after most race horses have retired, so this is her first foal. The proud “dad” (or “sire” in racetrack language) is Bernardini, named the Champion 3-year-old colt of 2006 when he won the Preakness Stakes, the last leg of the Triple Crown.

Here is the little guy’s birth chart for all my horse happy friends.

Visit Zenyatta’s official website where you will find the name of the little fellow when he receives his official name.

Best Wishes!

Welcome February 2010

The magibette.com website has been up and running for many years, but the time has come to dust it off, streamline the pages, and give it  a face lift.

The old site was built with flash components that prevented some people from accessing the pages, due to the latest security threats, so I decided  it was time to say a fond farewell to the sundial and high tech goodies.

Sometimes, you find that less really is more.

Also, it is time to begin posting some of my thoughts. On my other website in the 90’s I often included articles, personal perspectives, and  stories, but now sharing on the internet in this way is called a blog. This won’t necessarily be a blog in the commonly accepted definition  of a blog, as comments cannot be posted from outside the website in an effort to simplify matters.

For my initial “blog” on the newly revamped website I would like to steer clear of astrology and talk about GRATITUDE and APPRECIATION.

I want to break a bottle of virtual champagne over the bow of the new and improved magibette.com and dedicate this new venture to all of the people in my life who deserve my most fervent thanks, gratitude, and  appreciation:

First and foremost, my husband is a wonderful person and his open ended support and encouragement brightens every minute of every day. He is never too busy to answer the phone or stop for a loaf of bread and always strives to keep the lines of communication open. I want to express my appreciation to him for never criticizing, never arguing, and never disappointing.  I am so grateful to have someone of such fine character and honesty as my partner in life.

My children have become great helpers. I have grown to rely upon  them in several facets of my work and I am extremely grateful to both of them for their reliability and trustworthiness. I appreciate everything they have done through the years and the fact that I have been able to entrust them with important matters on many occasions without one iota of concern.

The President of the Magi Society has opened so many doors for me in so many ways; materially, intellectually, and spiritually. I am eternally  thankful for his trust and support through the years and the opportunity to serve the astrological community as well as the chance to learn so much from a true master of astrology.

The Members of the Magi Society continually lighten my heart and keep me on my toes by asking questions and sharing their lives as well as  their interest in astrology. I am so very grateful that the Magi Society attracts  such very “nice” people. In all of these years, I can count — using only the  fingers of one hand — the number of people I have met through this organization who have been inconsiderate or rude.

There are so many people and things to be grateful for in my life. There is my assistant who deserves special thanks for handling all the myriad details efficiently and who frees up my time to do other things. There is someone I have worked with for the past six years who has given me a chance to hone writing skills and become more financially secure, there is my talented sister who is always “there” when needed and has shown up to help move a household, bake some bread, or wield a paintbrush. There are so many clients who have provided support as well as validation over the years, who have in some instances grown to be like “family.”

Then there is Fergus.

Fergus arrived in my life two years ago as a little bundle of orange fuzz that fit in the palm of my hand.

This two week old kitten appeared in our yard without a mother or siblings, crawling along and mewing piteously, and needed to be adopted.  My daughter nursed him with a bottle by hand and this adoptee has grown into a very large and affectionate cat. Somehow God brought this fellow into my life just as many other beloved companion pets were passing on from old age.  I had decided that when the last Siamese cat ( the last of three in a truly delightful family of pedigreed cats) passed away after her allotted twenty years, that we would not get any more pets.

Fergus,  however, appeared out of the blue and demanded attention as well as affection. It  was almost as though God wanted to remind me that life goes on, that changes occur, that you may mourn the past but the new things that are brought into your life can be rewarding in a different way.

There are so many blessings in my life that, like Tiny Tim, I  have to say “God Bless you each and every one.”

My the stars be with you,

Magi Bette
